Food Security and Mechanisation: Inside the USD 100 Billion Flagship

Mechanisation, irrigation, storage and agro-processing form ADFG's largest flagship programme, aimed at Africa's food sovereignty.

Food Security & Mechanisation is the largest single allocation in the ADFG pipeline at USD 100 billion, and for good reason. Food systems sit underneath industrial stability: they set the cost of labour, the resilience of cities and the political room governments have to plan long term.

The programme links four components that only create value together. Mechanisation raises yields where labour is the constraint. Irrigation and water infrastructure at USD 50 billion remove the dependence on rainfall. Storage and logistics stop post-harvest loss. Agro-processing converts raw output into manufactured products and rural employment.

Delivery runs through the same partner model as the rest of the pipeline: sovereign counterparts, global financial partners on the capital side, and EPC and industrial partners on the equipment, plant and systems side.

The programme also connects directly to ADFG's education and skills commitments. Mechanised agriculture requires operators, technicians and maintenance engineers, and those roles are being built alongside the assets.
